For over 75 years, AP Haslam Limited has supplied high quality, reliable electrical components to the Industrial, Commercial and Hazardous Industry Sectors.
The story begins in Dublin’s Gardiner Street 1945 when Alphonsos P Haslam began
a business during a time when electrification was a relatively new technology
and beginning to play a central role in economic development. In the beginning
the business focused on the sale of Lindner fuses and porcelain fuse caps, and
this expanded into cookers and accessories.
From its earliest days, sourcing quality brands like Lindner and Prestige has
been important to the success of AP Haslam, as quality was an important aspect
of customer confidence in the 40’s & 50’s . Sourcing quality products from
established brands such as Weidmüller, WISKA and Mersen has differentiated AP
Haslam’s since its foundation.
Indeed we have celebrated over 50 years as distributors for these and other brands.
Over time the business grew and the city grew also with many established
building industry names moving to the new suburbs. AP Haslam expanded with a
move to its current location in Crumlin. Paul Haslam became the second
generation of the family to manage the business and we began providing bespoke
solutions through its workshop including being the first provider of certified
Atex solutions.
Today
AP Haslam employs over 20 people, five of whom have been with the company for over
30 years making knowledge and “know how” an important aspect of what makes us
different. Our people are well positioned to help with whatever our customers
require.
The Workshop at AP Haslam continues to provide bespoke solutions to the
electrical and construction industry manufacturing earth bars, combination
units, terminal junction boxes and trace heating designs, amongst other things.
Our Workshop offers a full range of EX enclosures and accessories for all
hazardous areas. As an approved and audited third party assembler for
Weidmüller, our Workshop EX service combines application expertise and years of
industry know-how offering tailored EX solutions.
The acquisition of AllCables has added a new product line to the AP Haslam range
and has expanded our service to professional electrical businesses. Based in
the workshop at AP Haslam, AllCables provides a wide range of bespoke
manufactured cable solutions – from simple patch leads to comprehensive fibre
optic cabling.
In recent years the business has expanded into providing LED lights for
industrial and ex environment. This is a complex area where safety and
standards are the law, an aspect of the business in which AP Haslam has experience.
Whether it’s Zones, UV Emissions, or Lumens, we are the people to talk to.
Our experienced Lighting Designers will work closely with you and your site
plans to determine your individual requirements.
Keith Haslam is now the third generation of the family to manage the business
and we continue to expand our offering with our Rittal Perforex BC1007 machine
to enable drilling, milling, cut outs, threaded and clearance entries to be
completed with increased speed and accuracy
So from small beginnings the company is now one of the country’s longest
established electrical suppliers. With a range of suppliers – many of whom are in
partnership with AP Haslam for decades – and a qualified and experienced
workshop capability with Atex expertise.
We are just as focused today on keeping up to speed with new developments in
the market and expanding our knowledge base – and to do what we are renowned
for doing – providing our customers with a professional, personal service and
delivering on what we promise.
